Sunshine for Two : Building Strong Bones for Baby and Mom
The sun gives off many types of energy waves — UVB, UVA, visible light, and infrared. Among these, UVB rays penetrate the skin and trigger the production of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is a fat‑soluble vitamin with two forms: D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol). Unlike most vitamins that come mainly from food, Vitamin D is often called as the sunshine vitamin and can be made in the skin through a reaction activated by UVB exposure.
